The Flemish Association for the Promotion of the Welfare of Farm Animals vzw wants to reward food producers when they make extra efforts for the welfare of their animals in livestock farming. This is done with the new quality mark 'Better for animals', which is currently being developed. The label can be awarded after a successful audit to all producers who, in addition to the legal requirements, make efforts for good living conditions, care and treatment of animals. Consumers can then easily choose products that meet these higher animal welfare requirements when making purchases.
The board and advisory boards of the non-profit organisation include scientists, representatives of society and of the various links within the sector, as well as representatives of society and science.
